OK, I just revisited the color shot. I grabbed the red slider and
cranked it all the way to the left, and suddenly his skin looks much
more natural while leaving the scrubs color pretty much intact. Must
just be something about the weird balance of color with the lights
(incandescent overhead, dimmed wayyyyy down, and CFL coming from the
monitor modified by the LCD). I also did a little localized brightness
reduction on his left hand, and highlight reduction on his glasses.
I also re-did the B&W one with less contrast and grain. Also did a
little local brightness reduction on the hand, and bumped up the
shadowed area around his lips behind the speechmike.
Since as a group we can't decide whether we like color or B&W, I just
went ahead and left both.
I don't want to brighten them overall - the room is normally very dark.
When the rads are reading studies, 90% of the light is coming from the
monitors. Makes fine details in the images show up better.
