I think it is not much of a concern what one defaults to if shooting raw.
I used to shoot daylight for all but sunsets and sunrises, but then I
became interested in seeing what the camera, and then camera raw, thinks is
"right." I can always select daylight in raw conversion.
I frequently defer to the camera's judgment for auto WB, though I often
pull the slider (usually towards the cold side) a wee bit. I can't say why.
