There are instructions on their web site on how to "migrate" from one version to another that should cover from one machine to another. The instruction are pretty comprehensive, it requires copying Firefox directories.

That's true. I do it a few times a year. When traveling, I move from desktop to
netbook+, then back when we return.

The simplest way is to copy the full directory and subdirectories.

Copy:
C:\Users\[username_a]\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxx.default\Mail\
to:
_x_:\Users\[username_b]\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\yyyyyyy.default\Mail\
where:
yyyyyyy.default is the name of the default profile on the second computer. When you install Thunderbird, it creates a mail directory, [random name].default

The simplest way is to copy the 'real' data from computer A as the same name already used by computer B. It's possible to copy A's directory as it's name on A and rename the one on B so it isn't yyy.default, so there is only one file with the "default" extension. I've had that work, I believe.

I have been happily using SyncBack in Sync mode to keep the two computers synced. It's worked well for years, as long as I only use TBird on one, then sync before using it on the other, and so on.
