Warren is doing a little better than many of these towns. It only has a
few empty storefronts. New Mexico really blew me away. Outside of Santa Fe
and Albuquerque, the state is economically a third-world country. I
visited the county seats of several NM counties, and they're ghost towns
with almost no businesses and few residents. In many of them, there is
nothing but the courthouse that isn't boarded up. I've never seen anything
like that anywhere in the midwest.
