I put in 8 Roma tomato plants this year, 4 Jalapeno peppers, 4 bell
peppers, two rows of garlic, two rows of onions and a random
scattering of other stuff that lost the battle with the weeds.
The Romas are almost tasteless, the onions pretty much non-existant,
only a dozen garlics survived and the peppers tasty, but wimpy. About
the only thing that thrived is some various butterfly plants.
We resurrected a garden plot that had been dorment for about 20 years.
The soil is tough and gumboish. Needs some sand and lots of organic
matter.
If I had that many tomatos, I don't think I'd be able to get out of
bed in the morning for what they do to arthritis.
