The real expensive one are usually for advanced eventing. They have
accelerometers and inflate like airbags with a fall. Some of those
jumps are just nuts. I recall one event at Ledyard a few miles form my
house where there was a very scary "coffin jump" where one had to jump
quite a high fence gong downhill blindly into a water filled ditch then
an uphill obstacle and then have to turn around and do it the other
way. I have liked galloping in a field and an occasional little jump
but those are needlessly dangerous for horse and rider, IMO and they
should quit it.
Some Photo vests are not cheap either--especially the custom Nylon.
