Back in late winter 1979, I think it was, my employer in Calgary, Alberta sent a small team to New York to finalize a corporate takeover. We stayed in a downtown hotel called the "Americana" then owned by American Airlines. What we had not been told was to avoid going out after dark on any account. When I reported back home about strolling round Times Square at night and taking in a move ............... Clockwork Orange as I recall ............... I was told that I was lucky to be alive. So much for NYC. However my photos taken from atop the World Trade Centre Tower are still very well preserved !

I also enjoyed the New York tour very much. 40 years ago (when I was living in Virginia) IBM sent me to school in Manhattan for 3 months. I lived on 34th St. and walked to school on 42nd St. and took the Amtrak Acela train back and forth from Washington on the weekends. Since we rarely go there I've seen very little of the city ever since. I was very interested to see the 9/11 Memorial since the pictures I've seen never showed me how much water was flowing there as yours did. It was a wider view than I've seen before.

A minor historical note. Seeing the 9/11 Memorial reminded me that for 6 weeks following 9/11 my son was put in charge of managing/approving all helicopter traffic (civilian and military) in and around the city.

We finished our USA trip in New York, from where we flew home on the 23rd. We basically had a day and a half in the city, staying at a Red Roof Inn in Queens and travelling into Manhattan by subway. There will people pics in the PAW, but here is a gallary of 30 pictures, mostly from lower Manhattan, with a few from Times Square and from Yankee Stadium, where we took in a thrilling Yankees-White Sox game on Friday night.
