[OM] The Impossible OM Project

Sooooo, Let's talk this through a little bit to see if there is
anything to this. The digital back to rangerfinder project proves that
this might be possible.

Just thinking out loud here, but here are several things to think about.

1. The OM bodies have electrical contacts for interfacing with motor
drives, flashes and data backs.

2. The OM bodies can be electrically triggered via the motor drives.

3. The OM bodies can electrically trigger the data backs.

4. Therefore, the ability to interface a non-OM component to an OM
body can be done with zero surgery to the OM body.

5. The shutter-speed of the exposure can be controlled one of two
ways. Either the camera is set to a long shutter speed and the digital
back to a shorter speed, or the digital back can be set to a long
shutter speed and the camera's curtain governs the actual exposure.

6. Using this rangefinder project as an example, the guts of the
digital camera can be stuffed into the film chambers as well as the
custom back itself.

7. I really like what I'm seeing here and I think that it's closer
than it has ever been before. I like the idea of using the low-end
SONY in this case, because it's almost entirely touch screen control,
so we don't have to build a control interface with ten zillion buttons
and twisty controls.

8. The 3D printing with higher-quality materials makes it repeatable
and manufacturable.

9. What would this be worth to me? I could easily justify a cost of
$1200 for this to have an APS-C back for my OM bodies.
