Still, I got some usable stuff.

Ya think?? :-)

Thanks!
I'm still trying to hit on the best
combination with the E-M5 - spot metering is hit-and-miss, center-weighted
the same.
You wouldn't happen to have some sort of exposure bracketing turned on? Maybe left from HDR shooting?

Ya know, maybe I did at first. I have that combo on Myset 3, and maybe I forgot to re-load Myset 1, my normal mode. I think I forced it to MS1 partway in just in case something was funky.

I must say, however, that I'm very happy with the lesser 40-150.

Only lesser in size and weight, not soul, at least the way you are using it. ;-)

Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm certainly glad I took your advice on that lens. The $1400-ish I saved is going towards another lens and a new transceiver for my ham shack.
I plan on getting the 75-300 before our cruise in January

That's a honey if you like long. I'm in looove. Get extension tubes if you like close, too.

I definitely want something in that range, partly for lunar photography, partly for scenic. We're taking a Caribbean cruise in January that stops at St. John and St. Marten. We've already booked an anniversary/birthday cruise to Alaska for next September, and since you see a lot of scenery as you cruise by, and we have a balcony cabin, I'm packing the tripod and the long lens for some casual landscape photography from my balcony.
