Although I've never looked into the details why I have so often found DoF calculations and scales not to give me the results I expect or want. This guy has looked deeply into an alternate way of looking at how to get images with the usable areas of focus.

Deeply thought through, not dismissive of conventional DoF calculations, but answering some questions I had and some I didn't know I had. You may not need to work through all the algebra and details of the illustrations, as the text descriptions are pretty clear.

No test 'til Saturday, as we're off to the woods for the rest of the week.
