That's exactly why, after seeing nothing in the manuals for the much shorter Tamron zooms, I went straight to the Nikon and Canon 800mm f/5.6 primes. If temperature was truly a problem and, if it was explained anywhere, I figured that's where it would be. At $13.5K for the Canon and $17.9K for the Nikon they are the longest and most expensive lenses offered (by B&H at least). I was wondering why the Nikon was so much more expensive than the Canon. It's at least partially explained by the Nikon's inclusion of a 1.25X teleconverter. But, of course, no one need explain their pricing in that market.
