Here's a detailed feature by feature comparison:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=bLzJCvOl5v0
The magnesium alloy front panel and the larger grip have increased weight
somewhat but there are some other improved features and twaeks like better
display and tilting display articulation etc.

the previous link I posted has two videos the first from a user, the second
promotional one from Sony.

The Sony one is impressive showing the video IS improvement results.

This link shows the sensor being stabilized. Very impressive.
I wonder what the longevity of the wiring connections is with that large a
movement.

Seems that apart from IS and improved video codec, other main claim is faster
focusing and better focus tracking.
Definitely would like faster focus with native lenses.

Bill,
     You are correct, I mispoke.

24Mpix like the A7.
With a good lens the A7 tends to often be limited my ability to handhold it
in lower light.

In another direction, having used my A7 a fair bit now, and after looking at
the A7S reviews, I really like the much higher sensitivity sensor idea as
well.

No flash required for many purposes at night indoors, great street camera
etc.
The A7 is already a huge step up in sensitivity over my old canon APS C, its
just the 7s just looks astounding.

I'm thinking more like the A7 at 24 megapixels than the 36 megapixel A7r

Same as A7r but has five axis image stabilization.
Wow I wish I had waited.

The A7R is great, but I really would love having the IS.
