Changing the question. How about a simple long distance provider as I used to have many years ago? One where you dial the service number and then the number you're calling.

Can't help with a VOIP provider, Chuck, but I can offer an opinion about
it. We recently switched to all-VOIP at the hospital and, in a word, it
sucks pond water. In-house calls are fine; outside calls to a land line are
mediocre but tolerable; calls to a cell phone are execrable. I typically
tell them to hang up and call me on a land line. The sound quality is like
listening to two Cyclons at the same time. Alexander Graham's first call
was probably better quality.

The telecom industry has been slowly migrating over to new voice
switches. Of course, these are VOIP based. There are a lot of things
to like about them, like the much reduced physical footprint (not
uncommon to have a 40:1 rack-space reduction), but getting them to
work has been mind-boggling.

This is the first time, that we know of, in the telecom industry where
technological advancement has resulted in a significant reduction in
quality, features and capabilities.

When I say "significant", that's not even remotely arguable.
