Got a bonus check for one of my side gigs, so naturally, instead of putting
it into savings, I plowed it into new toys. Pulled the trigger on a new
75-300 mk II from B&H, which may or may not get here by Christmas.
Debated on getting one from the 'bay, but decided that brand-new with a
warranty was worth a little extra dosh. Also ordered a pinchy-style cap and
hood from Amazon at the same time.
Merry Christmas to me. Felt a temporary twinge of guilt because it's for
me.. but Sheri does enjoy my photography. And she doesn't know that I have
a piece of jewelry coming from a friend of ours who is a jeweler. And
another friend, who's a internationally-prominent jewelry designer (pieces
in museums and galleries all over the world), is also a musician with a new
album coming out and he's offered to trade out promotion and social-media
stuff in exchange for a necklace for Sheri. We haven't finalized the
details yet, but that will be a complete surprise to her since most of his
pieces retail in the 5-figure range and we could never afford one otherwise.
