delete the coma from the link if you wish to access Moose's demo, so

A cross between the last two would be perfect on my screen Philippe

Hi Moose,

I appreciate your take on it but it looks dirty to me!

I wonder if part of that is a difference in screen brightness. Most of the images you post are a little light overall for me. But if you know the concrete as new, bright, clean, then my treatment is too dark and contrasty.

I see opinions are evenly split, but you know the subject and made the image, so ...

I was paying attention to "The dead grass and the concrete are pretty much the same tone in BW, so it looks much flatter than I would like it to." and did, I think, differentiate those elements. :-) I was also interested, as Chuck noted, in getting the children to stand out from the background.

All that may be done in a higher key way. I've also added a little post downsampling sharpening to parts of it. I think it adds to the separation of elements, but may still bring out more of the wall contrast/dirt than you find ideal? <http://www.moosemystic.net/,Gallery/Others/Wesson/Cash_Cube.htm >

C.H.'s is a fine version. A bit high key for me/my screen. More importantly, it does little to differentiate the textural details of the grass and concrete, which I saw as part of the "assignment".
