The world's best light meter is right on your camera. It's called the histogram. But I also think that the world's best color filters are in your digital post processor... no quick-connect filter device required.

Finally, after all these years, I have purchased a Pentax spotmeter.
It's a first-generation unit and comes with the padded case. Got it
for about $26 on evilBay. It was sold cheaply because the seller
could no longer obtain the 640 mercury battery for it. Lucky for me
he didn't know about using the zinc-air battery which just needs a
small nylon sleeve to hold it in place.

I already have the clip-on one for the Gossen Luna-Pro, but I was not
overly happy with it even though it's smaller in size. I've been
wanting to try one of these higher grade spotmeters for flower photos
so as to get a better feel for the diversity of light levels.

I always carry an old General Electric PR-1 in the field, but for
flowers I just take a number of photos at various speeds to bracket
the exposure. I couldn't do that with film as it got pretty costly
for the developing, so I got pretty demanding about getting the
exposure just right the first time.
