I saw that story - pretty amazing stuff. Every time they bring up HST's
here, people waffle and argue until nothing happens.Too much politics, too
many lobbies. Plus, our existing railroad infrastructure is in fairly poor
shape and mostly at grade level. The tracks between Chicago and New Orleans
are terrible. When we took the City of New Orleans this past November,
there were plenty of stretches that were extremely rough and uneven and we
couldn't have been doing more than 40mph at best.

I would love a 300mph train between Chicago and NYC or LA.
