Bob, So far as I know, JD does limit their barrels to one-time use.
However, George Dickel, and some others use their barrels more than
once, to save money, and still sell their product as "Tennessee
Whiskey". JD is trying to put obstacles in their path. I think JD has
a long-term contract for barrels that gives it a price advantage.
