[OM] Tripod support for moon shots

Subject: [OM] Tripod support for moon shots

It's late twilight and the moon was just hanging there inviting a shot with the E-M1. I rounded up the Orion 500/5.6 spotting scope, a T2 to OM adapter and an OM to 4/3 adapter and put everything on my big Manfrotto tripod with 410 geared head. Ooops! That head doesn't tilt up more than 30 degrees. Go grab the Manfrotto 3-way head. Ooops. Same problem... no tilt more than 30 degrees. Ball head. Naw, hard to install and also limited in tilt angle except in one orientation.

I have two equatorial heads but one is for the 8" Celestron. No reason to put a 500mm Orion on it and no easy way to mount it if I did. I also have a 4.5" Meade reflector with equatorial mount but there's no easy way to attach to that either... at least in a hurry.

So, those of you who have been taking moon shots... what are you using for support? Or do I just depend on IS to do the job. :-)
