Yes, WalMart profits from large subsidies from federal and state governments, not including local municipalities granting tax breaks for new construction. This is a growing trend in our near-fascist system, where giving corporations and wealthy businessmen means to further increase their wealth at the expense of a larger group is encouraged. But like many things in the USA, the pendulum will swing back to the other side eventually. Then another groups oxen are gored. -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Norcutt

I suspect that this is what Mike is talking about.
<http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/walmart-government-subsidies-study> Calling
"Americans for Tax Fairness" a "progressive" yet "non-partisan" group is
a severe contradiction in terms that one can encounter only on the likes
of MSNBC or The Huffington Post. See any non-partisan stuff here?
<http://www.americansfortaxfairness.org/> I thought not.

ps: I personally don't believe that businesses of any kind should pay
taxes. Only the owners who collect the profits. Of course, that will
never happen.

Who cares? They will try to meet the demand. The real question is
whether or not the business model of buy/sell cheap at any social cost
+ huge government subsidies like here in the US will work in China.
And/or what _is_ the business model for China.
