Of course the minimum wage should be higher, it hasn't been corrected for inflation for YEARS.

I saw an interview on one of the networks (NBC-CBS-ABC) news programs where two owners of a number of fast food franchises in California were interviewed about changes since the community in which they were located instituted a minimum wage increase, somewhere between 10 and 15 dollars. They said things were never better! They got better employees, less turnover, less absenteeism, better quality work, etc. When I see a business owner say that a minimum age hike will kill his business, I think he is really saying it will kill my ability to make obscene amounts of money. This is all about greed.

Indeed, Bill. Something similar happens in this country, except that the businesses don’t need to employ someone to do that duty as the Government both pays the "tax credits” and organises the system. That’s why the minimum wage should be higher.

That's what I meant. My ex-mother in law once worked for a small town walmart and she said that the store had a full time employee whose sole job was to set up other employees in welfare and food stamp programs, and medicaid. Disgusting. All to support the lives of some of our wealthiest citizens, who if the had no income for the rest of their lives, would live lavishly on what they already have.
