Marnie and I were very close a few years ago. Ironic but not unexpected that is
is owned by the Catholic church. The meaning of the name as I understand it
is St. Mary the White, in an attempt to drive out the perceived "darkness" of
its Jewish origin. I have read it has been used as an armory and warehouse. A
request was made a couple years ago to return it to the Jewish community which
would be appropriate, but am not holding my breath.
