Thanks for looking, Moose. This one seems the most physically capable one we have had in several years. I have dispatched them in years past using a sling-shot and small rocks, but this also breaks plastic feeders. And, like me, the sling-shot has passed its useful years and the rubber tubes would have to be replaced.

I'm keeping an eye on him. He can't really damage the green feeder, and it closes. If he gets too familiar with the other feeders, the sling-shot will have to be revitalized.

I reserve trapping and relocating for raccoons. Haven't had one in several years.

This squirrel was observed after he had made it past the squirrel guard and all the way up to the feeder, where his weight closed the cover over the trough and left him puzzling about a way to get to the seeds. He tried all sorts of ways to hang on with the trough uncovered, to no avail.

Nice catch.

I could tell it what to do. We've had a couple of "squirrels from hell" over the years. They could get anywhere, and destroy almost any feeder. One was particularly destructive. I eventually took to trap and release in the park up on the ridge.

Anyway, what they could have done is lie flat on their tummies, head and arms over the edge, and munched away on handfuls.

Fortunately, we have had dumber, less aggressive squirrels lately - fingers crossed (which makes typing difficult).
