It is entirely possible that you have been suffering from the application of
Roundup that most US farmers apparently use for their wheat.
It seems that they apply Roundup to the crop a few days before harvest so as to
ease the combine’s progress. It also has the effect of forcing the growth of
more seeds, from what I read a few days ago.
So you have perhaps been suffering from a reaction to glyphosate . . .

Whatever the truth of it, it has a) put me off any bread (or grain product)
from the USA and b) given me another reason to campaign against TTIP.
