I no sooner made mention of this lens than one popped up at an affordable
price of $60 this morning. It has a Nikon mount, which is readily usable on
Olympus 4/3 cameras such as the E-500 series.

Before pursuing this lens, I read a number of online reviews and they
were invariably positive, and this one has a good number of sample photos:

I have used a couple of wide-angle zooms that go down to 24mm, but I
wanted something even wider so I can explore the limits and be able to take
better wide-angle photos in narrow situations such as canyons and meadows.

The problem, from my perspective, is that none of these are really wide angle on a 4/3 sensor. 18 mm is 36 mm FF eq. There was a time, long ago, when 35 mm on FF was considered wide. Now we have Bob traipsing about Scotland with a 35 mm eq. and Jim having fun with his new 40 mm eq.

To get real WA for 4/3, about the only choices are Oly's triumvirate of WA zooms, 7-14, 9-18 and 11-22 or the discontinued Sigma 10-20.
