Very glad the Buddlea is doing better, as is Marnie.  :-)    They are fairly 
drought tolerant.

No true drought in our little garden as yet. I cut back the watering a little, but no one is drying up. But something was getting into the new leaves and buds, bugs, fungus, whatever. This year is is free of that so far. Knock wood.

We have the same type which we and the B'flys admire, but am thinking of adding 
a dwarf one ,Pink micro chip, and perhaps a Bicolor one.

I recall one of John Shaw's early lessons was to take advantage of soft light 
for macro especially to bring out delicate colors but there are always 
exceptions if technique is implmented well.

I have nothing against that, when that's the light where I and the flower are. But I also like the full sun brightness, and, I suppose, lack of subtlety. And as you say, there are ways to keep the tonal subtleties.
