I would consider as suggested a tabletop tripod  (or gorilla pod) if you 
have one - I have a small carbon sirui that I would take if it was me as 
its so light and small BUT not for the reason you would normally think, 
but to take some shots of you and your wife (or a group) against the 
scenic backgrounds - much better than a selfie stick, I discovered that 
was how my sirui got used instead of the night shots that I had planned 
for it ;-)
