Well,.... an ovipositing female is one hypothesis, but I don't like that one, 
as all the black on the wings indicates they are both  likely male clouded 
Sulphurs. Given the recent
change in marriage statutes in Maine, suppose mating dance is not out of the 
question, but more likely a territorial spat of two males.  Pheromones from 
conspecific males will often trigger aerial dogfights.
The flutterbys look  very "fresh"  ( I  very much dislike that term used by 
B'flyers as it seems more appropriate to lettuce than critters) and the abdomen 
can be plump for awhile after emergence. 

Alternative explanation, awaiting Moose to flutter by to South Hamilton soon 
(hurrah), Mike
