I would consider this a welcome update, considering the far worse scenarios
that had occurred to me from the first report.
Let's see; everyone uninjured, money available to recover, a place to stay heading into summer, a computer to use,
virtually all images found whole, and so on.. Could have been far worse.

i7 is indeed good advice. My latest is a fairly high up i7, 32GB of memory and a Solid State boot drive. It works well
for image work, as well as pretty much everything else I do. Mine was rather inexpensive, as I ordered the bits and
assembled it myself. I know nothing about prices for such a machine in NZ. But if the insurance provides funds, it's a
good bet for happy computing.
Win 7 and 10 both sound fine for you.
A huge
relief for me; I thought I had lost all my digital images, but anyway I
asked the guys who were dismantling the wreck of the house to extract a
3-drawer metal filling cabinet which contained about 5,000 selected
colour slides, and some valuable documents, so that I could sift through
them as see what was there.
I discovered 2 backup drives which I
thought had been left on the top of my desk and therefore incinerated,
but no, they had been heated - but.. One was mid 2013 and the other, in
an aluminium case, mid 2014. We didn't try the former ( I want to some
time) but the latter restored perfectly !! :-)

I recommend you consider the OM-D Em-5 II. Cheaper than the OM-1 and at this time, in my opinion, a better camera. The
IBIS is astonishingly better than earlier OM-Ds and the High Resolution mode is amazing and might be useful for your
still lifes. The next iteration of the E-M1 will undoubtedly have the new IS and an even better High Rez mode, but at
the moment, it doesn't.
The EM-5 II is a first rate camera and the best of the OM-Ds at the moment, IMO and at least around here, lower priced
and often on sale.
As to lenses, I have an aversion to big, heavy, expensive, short focal range "pro" zooms. I know they would be "shelf
queens" in my life. The 12-50 is a first rate lens with real macro capability built in. It and a 75-300 account for over
90% of my images.
