Took a little work, but nothing you couldn't do with ordinary hand
    tools and emery cloth.

It certainly looks better than the original. I can see why the wood scales
attracted you. OTOH, what is the blade made of?

I used to carry larger knives, but have lately found that a 3+ in. blade does everything I need with less bulk and weight. My daily carry for the last few months has been a CRKT Delegate EDC with 3 1/8" 8Cr14MoV blade. <http://images.knifecenter.com/thumb/1500x1500/knifecenter/crk/images/1055W.jpg>

I was going back and forth with it and a Kershaw 1530, with 3" 8Cr13MoV blade. <http://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-1530-G10-Hawk/dp/B003C7QV6U>

Both take a razor edge and hold it really well, which is important to me for an every day carry knife. I don't want to have to baby it or spend time maintaining it. I had trouble at first with the opening lock on the CRKT, but my thumb learned it. I don't think the assisted opening adds anything.

The CRKT has won out mostly because I like using the modified Wharncliffe blade shape better than the clip point of the Kershaw, and I think it's prettier. :-)
