Since leaving the relatively densely populated but flat landscape of South
East England to the doubly converse in the NW Highlands, I have started to
learn the attractions of telephoto landscapes. That one of yours does a good
job of selling the genre, Moose, I like it, and agree that the painterly
effect of atmospherice distortion is actually well-suited to the subject.
But the painter in question need to get his easel levelled!

One thing I like with long teles is what atmospheric movement does to
images. Frustrating when shooting the moon, and
some other subjects, but fun when it makes it look like a painting.

These are the Isles of Shoals, off Portsmouth, NH, and 21-22 mi. from where
I took the shot on top of the Crane House on
Castle Hill, Ma. <http://zone-10.com/tope2/main.php?g2_itemId=19367>

Landmarks are the White Island Light, the Oceanic Hotel on Star Island, and
this adapted WWII surveillance tower on
Appledore Island. <http://www.eos.sr.unh.edu/newsl_1109/headofpack.shtml>
