Have you looked at ThinkTank? although far from perfect their bags come unusually close. I got one of their "Mirrorless Mover" bags for my m4/3's gear and it is a close fit but works well.

I agree, Ken. You’d think that it would be easy for experience bag designers to make the perfect bag – perfect for each situation and kit, I mean – but there is always some flaw. I have a Tenba DNA 11 Messenger bag: it is lightweight, has loads of pockets and is nicely adaptable. But it has little protection on the top, as you mentioned, and the pockets are tight. But I’m off to Portugal in a couple of weeks (only for a weekend) and it will hold a body and a couple of lenses as well as my iPad and some other essential gear.

Your Kata looks very businesslike. I have a rucksac and a convertible sling/rucksac from Kata, each of which is pretty good for the job.

As I've sat here this evening doing a little bit of research on some
of the newer bags I did look at and dismiss, there seems to be a trend
these days in bag design to somehow make the bags unusable. The action
seems to be in the messenger category for mirrorless cameras. But
anything intended for a DSLR kit is incomprehensibly awkward. Of the
Manfrottos (which absorbed KATA), this category of bags is completely
horrid. Naneu seems to be about the only company actually TRYING to
make the bags usable. With the exception of that one I tried to like,
they usually are on their game.

The more I look this KATA bag over, the more I like it. The quality of
construction, materials and design really are excellent. I'm just not
as pleased about the outside dimensions as I like, but for the primary
purpose of this bag, I think it will do. The overall security and
protection of the equipment is the best of all of my bags. It's at
least 50% more protective than my best LowePro and 2-3x better than
the bag it's replacing. But it is heavier.
