This has not been a part of my life. I'm trying hard to recall seeing it, but I'm pretty sure I've not encountered it
out here on the Calif. coast. Then again, I know about stoop sitting, but it is also not something one sees here. Lots
of houses in older residential neighborhoods hereabouts have front porches wide and deep enough for sitting, and that
does happen.
We sit out in the front yard, which is semi isolated from the street, when the
weather is nice.
