For those of you who are interested in ancient technology, you may want to
see if the television series "Murdoch Mysteries" is available in your area.
It's a series of crime mysteries staged in late 19th century Toronto, complete
with horses, steam engines, telegraph, and other such things. An episode I
recorded earlier and watched today involved Nikolai Tesla and his battle with
Thomas Edison, the controversy over AC vs. DC, and the Niagara generating
station. It strongly suggested that Tesla invented radio and that he had
devised voice communication over radio prior to Fessenden.
Together with the interesting portrayal of 19th century technology is the
display of Victorian/Edwardian manners and English usage. Very refreshing.
