The way I have always understood it, Wayne, the "inaccuracy" of consumer
GPS compared to military is a fudge factor applied to the consumer signal.
If that is so, the inaccuracy would apply to all readings, so your starting
and ending altitudes would both be accurate within 15m. At worst, I guess,
if you start at 100m and end at 110m, consumer GPS could show you as having
descended!

But I will be happy to be educated more better!
