Indeed! There are two files missing in between 2840 and 2843.

The file names you see here are one version of OM-D naming. "P" as the first character means an sRGB file, "_" as the first character means Adobe RGB. Characters 2-4 are month, day, day. The last four characters are the sequence number. On an sRGB file the first 4 characters may be customized. On Adobe RGB names only characters 2-4 may be customized. Don't ask me why. I guess so you can never forget you're working with Adobe RGB.

Thanks for all the comments.

With our house rebuild getting months
closer, and the carcase of the house to be demolished quite soon, I have
relocated our pet cat to a cattery which is out in the country ( now,
THAT"S saying something, even where we live ) about 15 minutes' drive
from home. Until now he has been reasonably happy living alone in what's
left of the house, but it was time to move on. I plan to visit him most
days, in the late afternoon visiting period.

To my surprise, when I
last called on him, this showed up outside the cattery;

I did not know how
skittish the bird was, so I commenced photographing him from the car,
camera between car window and body. I took 3 shots at that spot, about
10 seconds apart.

Soon after I got home I uploaded them to the
computer, and it was THEN that I realised one shot was missing.

So
that realisation was, say, 30 minutes after the shots were taken.

Yes,
I too wondered if my memory was playing tricks on me.

The previous
occasion was several hours after I took th photo, so there is a much
greater probability of faulty memory. I'm sure I took a photo of the
boat wake between these two shots;
http://zone-10.com/tope2/main.php?g2_itemId=20100 ;
http://zone-10.com/tope2/main.php?g2_itemId=20103 but the somewhat
traumatic events which followed may have screwed up my memory. I have
been aware of that possibility for a while.

...................................

I'm not sure if I have a
suitable card reader to put in my computer. I'll check within a day.

I'll also copy all advice to one file.

Many thanks.

Brian
