you are probably unaware of. If Window 10 is "free" it must mean that
you are paying in other ways. You are. You may need to follow the

Note that Apple also collects a lot of personal data. But unlike
Facebook, Google and Microsoft, Apple doesn't sell it. Windows 10
(free) is a new Microsoft business model. I choose not to be part of it.

Well, no, I am not.
I installed one of the anti-10 apps on the desktop, to avoid the
annoyances. But I never have had updates automagically applied, so I've had
no trouble with the netbook+, either.
I have no theoretical objection to having the latest version of my OS
installed. However, I use the XP virtual machine to run some old software
with which I make a bit of $, and they disappeared it after 7.
I can't imagine you've had trouble with auto updates.
