That's right... the day we Yanks celebrate our severnce of ties with
Her Majesty.
I was teasing ChrisB about his "Britspeak", but our ties with the
"mother-country" are everywhere.
An article in yesterdays Wahingtom Post pointed our that we brought the
old country with us - either for nostalgia or to curry favor with the
crown. To wit: there are hundreds of USA ciies with names borrowed from
the UK.
There are 23 Manchesters, 18 Plymouths, 16 Chesters and 16 Oxfords, 15
Bristols... and 11 Dovers.
