I no longer do the mileage so I change tyres as the Germans do every 4 years although I do let the summer tyres go a bit longer - a long cry from my UK driving days when I needed a set every 4 months (or 20'000 miles) and I cringe to mention my honda CB 900 Mcycle which needed a new rear every 900 miles.

Only 30k, Chris (and I do hope you mean miles and not kilometers)! That
must be a very soft tire compound. The original tires on my Honda CR-V
(Continentals) only lasted 45k miles, but the Firestones that replaced them
have lasted 80k miles (just started my third set).

It might be that tyres in Europe are softer and more liable to break into
particles, which is apparently the problem, but my Pirelli P7s last me 30k,
and thats on the crappy British roads. Tyres will surely not last more
miles than that on our Prius, would they?

I do hope that my tyres last that long on my latest acquisition; the rear
tyres are 255/40 18 which dont come cheap. I had not spotted the
assymetric tyre fit before I bought the car . . .

4. Tire wear. Not sure I buy this one. Tires meant for hybrids and EV
vehicles tend to be of a very hard compound, are pumped up to scary
air-pressures and provide as much tire life as anything else out
there. Sorry, but this one doesn't pass the smell test.
