Should fetch enough to pay for the M.Zuiko 12-100/4 Pro being announced 9/19, assuming the specs are right and I can carry it.

The first so-called pro lens that I would have any interest in. Let's hope that it is no bigger than the 4:3'ds 12-60. ... I doubt it though.

There's some hope that it will be a little lighter, at least.

The M.Z 12-40/2.8 Pro requires a calculated FE of 14 mm, the DZ 12-60/2.8-4.0 requires 15 mm. Yet the older lens weighs 50% more, so the newer M.Z Pro designs may be more weight efficient.

OTOH, 100/4 requires a FE of 25 mm. OYTOH, the M.Z 40-150/4-5.6 requires 27 mm, and the whole lens weighs 190 g. But there will be lots more elements and heavier construction. I'd make an optimistic guess at 450 g. (1#)

The thing that I'm very curious about is close focus. I am sooooooo tired of push-pulling the zoom ring on the 12-50 to go from normal range, past power zoom, to "macro" range, 0.36x (1:2.8), while holding down the button half the time.

The 12-40/2.8 manages to go directly to 0.3x (1:3.3), without a special mode. My interest in this new lens will depend a lot on the close focus magnification and implementation.
