What other damage was done to the lens in the drop ? Removing the damaged
filter is probably the least of the problems !

Subject: [OM] Stuck filter

Seen on a camera repair forum this morning.

Last month, I dropped my camera and it landed on its lens/filter. The filter
glass was shattered, and the ring was jammed onto the plastic barrel of the
lens. A strong grab, a little prying, knocking lightly with a hammer...
nothing worked.

Finally ... what worked was placing the lens, filter down onto an ice pack
and waiting 5 mins ... then screwing it right off. Physics at work!
The aluminium ring contracted more than the plastic barrel it was stuck on.
