Just some facts:
Bill and Hillary have two charitable foundations.
-One, is their personal charity to which they alone donate their own
money for a tax write off. They do have to pay some tax on this money.
This is typical of people in both public and private life in their tax
bracket. The money actually goes to real charitable causes.
-Two, is a large public foundation that is open for anyone to donate. It
too supports bona-fide charitable causes and has a rep for doing good
work. Hillary is being accused of granting special access to some who
have donated to this charity but the accusations have yet to be
substantiated. In my opinion it would be too bad for some needy causes
if this foundation is forced to close.
Trump has a foundation similar to B&H's #1. However he doesn't use his
own money, (or at least very, very little, ($10,000 back in 2004+/-.)
What he has done is to have people who owe him money "donate" to this
charity. Of course he hasn't paid tax on this money which is really income.
The other and perhaps more serious issue is that he has been spending
the money from the Trump Foundation for his own personal use or for use
by his companies. e.g. Large pictures of himself behind the bar in at
least one of his exclusive golf clubs. e.g. paying legal expenses of
lawsuits, e.g. (this is bizarre) He offered a million dollar prize at
one of his golf tournaments to anyone who shot a hole-in-one. Someone
then actually did shoot a hole-in-one. Trump reneged of course. The
person sued and settled out of court for around 750k. So where did the
money for the defense and for a part of the payoff come from?? You
guessed it. His answer to those investigating where some of this stuff
went, "find it if you can". The investigators have found some so far.
I believe that this is part of the IRS action against him. His defense
is some obscure 1940's lower court ruling which no one uses.He has no
defense for the misappropriation of the foundation money.
Hillary is not Bernie but I will be supporting her, warts (mostly
fabricated, some real) and all.
