Yes, Chris, the "lantern" - I didn't visit any of these (many) buildings
with a canopy like that one.
The contraption looks very large for just allowing access to light and
warmth in a country where people tend to stay indoors in the hot hours.
I'll be posting photos of Porto where they seem to (have) be (en) used on
the tops of what I thought were factories.
But your suggestion makes sense all the same.
