Here in Charleston, I'm safely encamped at the hospital. I'm a bit early
but they are calling for rain in the morning and I didn't want to have to
carry my gear through the wet. I don't expect any really bad weather until
tomorrow night. The local forecasters are calling for the storm to be a CAT
1 as the eye passes us 20 miles offshore. Predicting 90 mph winds at the
beaches and a 5' to 8' storm surge. Timing is crucial; peak of the storm is
probably around 2 pm Saturday and high tide Saturday is 1:38 pm. It will be
bad for the barrier islands.
