It's big!  I would compare it to using the Noctilux on the M6 - which I
used for many years, almost exclusively.  The huge advantage to this 50/1.4
is that it is autofocus and it fits on the SL which is my current favorite
camera.  Ergonomically, it balances fine on the camera.  I tend to hold it
by the lens, cradling the lens in my left hand and using my right hand to
press buttons.

I will know a lot more after Christmas because I'll have grandchildren to
practice with in low light and shallow depth of field - always from the
shadow side!
