Ah yes, I remember. Cute and well built. But . . . Life and vacations are too 
short for 12 twist/untwist ferrules.

As I recall, the Velbon didn't seem any less stable, and almost infinitely quicker to set-up, adjust and take down. Not CF, perhaps not as elegant, but practical for an impatient Moose. ;-)

You've walked with me on photo expeditions. Would you want me any slower? :-D

and with the improved IS of late doesn't use the 'pod as much traveling at all.

Ever so true. On our broken bones shortened trip last fall, I don't think I ever used it in two weeks. I carried it, though, 'cause you never know. :-)
