Our Oly tech John Hermson has recommended for years using Pliobond. It stuck in
my mind because my Dad also used it. IIRC 3M makes it.

'skin' is not cracked but is slightly curled.

recommendation for a contact cement, or similar,

flattened Q Tip ?
