Presently sitting on Brier Island, Nova Scotia [go do a Google Earth search for location] with with a roll or three of NC Porta 160, expiry date in 2009 and 2012, and a Mamiya 7 II and wondering whether a new memory card in a Fuji XT1 is a better option to record trip visuals.

My own personal experience with aged Portra NC (either 160 or 400) is
that there is absolutely no problem with it as long as it has remained
in a chilled state. The only issue I've encountered is a little bit of
fogging if it hasn't been kept cold. As to color shifts? I can't
recall ever seeing any that I could blame on the old film. I wouldn't
hesitate to use it for pretty much anything, except for something
where you have to guarantee color-match.

Kodak's reformulated Portra 400 is easily my most favorite Portra film
ever. While I like 160NC for the grain-free characteristic, by the
time you amp up the colors, it's actually rougher than Portra 400 in
its natural state. Of course, you need to shoot 400 at 200, but that's
another story.

Shoot it without fear. Or I'll take it off your hands. I've got a box
full of freezer film right now--including a bunch of 120 film that
just needs a camera to run it through. But I'm sure that I can justify
the acquisition of a medium-format camera now with my moving to
Alaska.
