The camera is going back to Olympus for repair. Looking on dpreview it seems that the viewfinder lens can act as a magnifying glass when set to a high + diopter setting, burning something inside the viewfinder in seconds and resulting in the green spots.

My one month old OM-D E-M5 mark II has developed green spots in the viewfinder. They are not on the LCD itself as they move in relation to the displayed image as you move your eye, so they must be in front of it. Has anyone else experienced this? I see a few comments on dpreview where people have had similar problems with the E-M1.

Teensy aliens landed on the cover glass?

No idea, but a tip. Dust, etc. tends to accumulate on the lower right corner extension of the cover glass. Then the auto eye switch acts wonky. I carry a brush (one end of a LensPen or SensorKlear) to clean it without removing the eyecup.
