All this talk of Macro/Micro has prodded me into resurrecting an old project. I
recently discovered an old 20mm f3.5 macro lens I had forgotten about. I also
have 135mm and 80mm lens heads, bellows, auto telescoping extension tubes,
focussing rails, 2 T10 ring flashes and a pair of T28 flashes. (and a digital
60mm Macro lens)I am trying to build a trans illuminator base using the base of
an old microscope with my macrophoto stand on top.  My idea is that using a
transilluminator which has been converted to a 3w cree LED. and a tiltable flat
mirror in the base housing i should be able to get reasonable illumination.
Another option is a high power LED mounted in the base firing directly
upwards.Any (helpful) suggestions gratefully received!
Does anyone have info on Leiberkulm reflectors regarding the radius of the
reflecting surface. It should be straightforward to machine  in white plastic
or aluminium given this dimension. failing this I will experiment with the
curved bases of drinks cans or bottled gas containers etc.

Now wait just a second, there… I quickly took the venerable Moose’s word as
fact, but upon examining my 38 and 20, I see that, if the central protrusion
were eliminated, the filter threads WOULD fit a standard 49mm filter.

So I’m moving ahead with my idea, using a 49mm wide-angle lens hood, painted
flat white inside.
